Education

Kindergarten Through 12th Grade

Collierville's public school system is governed by Shelby County Board of Education.

There are two boards of education in Shelby County including the Memphis City School system and Shelby County School system. The student population within the Shelby County School System and the Memphis City School System is 50,000 and 112,000, respectfully.

The Shelby County School System administers all public schools in the county outside the Memphis city limits, including the six incorporated towns - Collierville, Arlington, Bartlett, Germantown, Lakeland and Millington. The system now operates seven high schools and 36 elementary and middle schools.

The Collierville Education Foundation, a non-profit volunteer 501(c)(3) organization is a model program for other school systems. Founded in 1997 by the Collierville Chamber of Commerce, the foundation has continually raised record setting donations toward the purchase of additional computers, facility improvements and grants for teacher supplies. Prior to the formation of the Collierville Education Foundation there were two ongoing projects to support the public schools in Collierville. The first was a small grants program, which was supported by the Carrier Corporation. The second one, beginning in 1988, was a Teacher Appreciation Luncheon held annually and sponsored by the Collierville Chamber of Commerce and funded by local businesses and individuals in the town of Collierville.
