Bill Ray

BellSouth

 

 

Bill Ray is Assistant Vice President of External Affairs for BellSouth's Memphis operations.  In his position, he is spokesman and principal representative of BellSouth in the greater Memphis area.  He also is responsible for the company's relations with all external constituencies in the Memphis area, including external communications, community relations and media relation activities.

 

Bill serves on numerous local non-profit boards, for profit and service organizations.  He is a board officer of the Liberty Bowl, a board member of Memphis in May and chairman of United Way General Campaign for 2005.  He was awarded the 2003 Leadership Award by the Corporate Volunteer Council.  He is a Rotarian Paul Harris Fellow and President Elect of the Memphis Rotary Club.  He was a board member of the Memphis Regional Chamber for the past 6 years.  He was past Chairman of the Board for 2002 and 2003 for the Collierville Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on the executive board.  

 

A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Bill began his career with BellSouth in December 1968.  He has held a number of positions in business sales, including assistant vice president of sales for BellSouth Business Systems in Louisville, Kentucky.  He assumed his current position on September 16, 1998. 

 

Bill and his wife, Nancy, have 6 children and 6 grandchildren.
